Mindset by Carol Dweck
This is the excerpt from my book:
Back in 2011, I was reading a book called Mindset by Carol Dweck, which is about the psychology of success on mindsets. I knew from that book that I had a growth mindset so that was helpful but not an answer for growing. The principles are such that one needs to be open to experiences, learn from them, and grow. It is not healthy to have certain expectations and feel that there can only be one possible outcome. When people do this, they set themselves up for some unhappy times. Perfectionism arises from this closed mindset which can lead to less and less growth in whatever it is one may be doing. This was a great book but only one of the many I was investigating. This book was particularly appealing with regard to the students I work with and, of course, I translated it to my personal life with not only my children, but also with learning about my own style. A MUST Read for anyone wishing to work on change!
